Located in Hanley's Farm, Queenstown, Kamo Marsh Central Lakes provided the landscape design and oversaw the construction of Te Kura Whakatipu o Kawarau.

Working collaboratively with the school community, the design intent was to create an outdoor learning and play space that reflected Queenstown’s landscape character and environment and celebrated the multi-cultural site history and growing community. We successfully engaged with local mana whenua, who developed the cultural paving pattern to represent the Kawarau Maunga and Lake Whakatipu and our team managed the implementation. As well as traditional school use the outdoor areas have become a popular place for the community to gather.

While the design follows sustainable principles and utilises local materials, boulders, and plants suitable to the Queenstown climate, it also complements the beauty of the natural landscape and we were proud to be involved in this very successful project.
